Ian Petrie & Rachel Rodwell

When

Friday 19 January 2024
7:30pm - 10:30pm

Event Type

A double bill featuring sets from two highly accomplished Kent Folk performers, IAN PETRIE & RACHEL RODWELL. We are delighted both of them are making return visits the club for the first time since before the lockdowns,
IAN is a singer-songwriter & guitarist who has clocked up 60 distinguished years playing around Kent & the South East Folk Circuit as a solo artist, barn dance caller, leader of his own band & member of the legendary Skinners Rats.

He recently came bouncing back, following a period when vocal chord problems made singing difficult, taking up a residency at the prestigious Dartford Folk Club.

Ian’s current repertoire comprises of his own songs, as well as many songs he has grown to love, always highly entertaining & veering wildly between tragedy & comedy.
RACHEL is not only a fine guitarist & interpreter of songs but she also throws in some cracking compositions of her own for good measure. During the 2010s, she gigged extensively with the highly acclaimed Kent-based folk quarter Larkspur & also played with partner Gary as the Rodwell Incident before taking time out after suffering a badly fractured ankle.

Rachel is a fine artist & illustrator, too, with works reflecting a love of animals & the countryside around her, which permeate her songs as well.

We start with 50 minutes of lively floorspots welcoming musicians, singers & poetry/spoken word before bringing on the guests for the remainder of the evening.

It’s free entry to OLC Members with a £1 charge to non-members.
There’ll be a hat collection for the guests in CASH with a suggested minimum contribution of £6 per head, but please give more if you can afford it.

The club premises & CAMRA award-winning bar will open on the night at 17.30 hrs. The bar is a CARD payment only.
