Ado Matheson, Frank McConnell & From the Workshop will be on stage together in what promises to be another fascinating & fun evening. They are all accomplished singer-songwriters (with not a fool amongst them) & will take turns performing their songs, discussing their inspirations, & engaging in friendly banter.
ADO MATHESON was raised on the Isle of Lewis in the outer Hebrides, where he retains close links. In recent years he has been living in the Orpington Area. He’s a high-quality performer, a fantastic singer-songwriter, with a delightful singing voice & a fine interpreter of others’ songs. He is at home singing in both English & his native Gaelic.
FROM THE WORSHOP are local couple JONNIE TEMPLE & HELEN ROSEMARY ‘a man & his suitcase, a woman & her voice’. Expect stunning harmonies & finely crafted compositions blending folk traditions with soulful & punkish influences..
FRANK McCONNELL is a seasoned songwriter & tunesmith who was raised in the North East of England. He’s an outstanding guitarist,with a discography that includes both solo albums & collaborations. Frank is well known for his involvement in broadcasting & has featured in both children’s & religious programmes.
From 7.30 pm until 8.15 pm, we’re open to floorspots before the guests come on to play the first of their two sets. Singers, musicians, and poets are all welcome. Self-penned material will be welcome but optional.
A cash hat collection goes to the guests in its entirety. The suggested minimum contribution is £6, but please give a little more if you can afford it.
The club premises and CAMRA award-winning bar will be open on the day from 5.30 pm. It’s CARD payments only: free entry to OLC members, £1 to non-members.
