Shanakee are an upbeat and energetic folk rock band that lean into their namesake, the word meaning ‘travelling storyteller’ in Gaelic.

Members of the band come from a diverse range of musical backgrounds, spanning punk/post-punk, indie, and folk rock. They bring a mix of original and traditional music with their own slant, citing the mystic marshlands of Dungeness as an influence for this unique blend.

The band’s members are: Paul Johnson (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar), Patrick Heron (mandolin, mondol, accordion, 12 string, flute and vocals), Roger Isit (bass and backing vocals) and Brian Whitby (drums).

A cash hat collection goes to the guests in its entirety. The suggested minimum contribution is £6, but please give a little more if you can afford it.

The club premises and CAMRA award-winning bar will be open on the day from 5.30 pm. It’s CARD payments only: free entry to OLC members, £1 to non-members.
