DESCRIPTION:Singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist &amp\; former Orpingt
 on Friday Folk Club resident Andy Smythe returns to OLC with his talented 
 trio of Jimmy Van Lin (mandolin/Fiddle) &amp\; Les Elvin (bass) ..stars in
  their own right.\n\nThrough his music\, Andy aims for a Brit-pop renaissa
 nce with a retro sound combining the melodic &amp\; lyrical craftsmanship 
 of the Beatles with the energetic 90’s approach of Blur &amp\; The Verve
 . He writes about his ‘inner world’ in a Lennon/Bowie style &amp\; sin
 gs in a powerful &amp\; distinctive Jeff Buckley-like voice which covers f
 our octaves.\n\nAlongside Andy's old favourites\, he will be playing a sel
 ection of songs from his new album 'Poetry in Exile'.\n\nIn support will b
 e Swans. Barry Ewing &amp\; Gail Newton have formed a guitar &amp\; vocal 
 harmony duo. Their repertoire is predominantly covers &amp\; characterised
  by combining a bold &amp\; eclectic choice of songs with well-worked-out 
 arrangements.\n\nFrom 7.30 pm until 8.20 pm\, we're open to lively floorsp
 ots before Andy comes on to play his first set. Singers\, musicians &amp\;
  poets are welcome. Come early if you'd like to do a turn. Time is limited
  &amp\; we'll try to fit in as many as possible. Please be ready when you'
 re called &amp\; keep it short &amp\; sweet...this part of the evening won
 't be allowed to overrun!!\n\nA hat collection in CASH goes in its entiret
 y to the guests. The suggested minimum contribution is £6\, but please gi
 ve a little bit more if you can afford it.\n\nThe club premises &amp\; CAM
 RA award-winning bar will be open on the day from 5.30 pm. It's CARD payme
 nts only\, with free entry to OLC members &amp\; £1 to non-members.
