Linde Nijland (with multi-instrumentalist Bert Ridderbos)

Saturday 2nd November 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Songs of Sandy Denny + some of her own.

Folk singer / songwriter Linde Nijland used to be half of well known harmony singing duo Ygdrassil, until they split up and Linde continued solo with musician Bert Ridderbos on guitars, cittern, accordion and banjo. Apart from recording her own songs she’s an excellent performer of classic folk songs and she’s made an entire album as an homage to her favourite singer Sandy Denny which was very well received. It led to her invitation by Joe Boyd (producer of Nick Drake, Fairport Convention i.e) in 2009 to perform with Faiport Convention (incl. Richard Thompson) in the Barbican Hall. She was also part of a radio documentary by Bob Harris for BBC2. Linde regularly tours with the songs of Sandy Denny and she’ll mix this with her own beautiful material. Bert and Linde will also tell about the adventurous musical journey they made a few years ago, an over land trip by Land Rover to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan with concerts in Iran, India i.e.

Linde Nijland has given Sandy Denny’s music the respect it deserves, and made a lovely and fresh record that shows off her beautiful voice as well as her good taste“. Joe Boyd

Bert Ridderbos is seemingly a one-man acoustic orchestra, who’s canny enough to know where to apply the extra’s” fRoots
