Larkins Tap Takeover – Thursday
Thursday October 8 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
As we cannot run a normal “Meet The Brewer” event at the moment, we will be running a Larkins “Tap Takeover” spread over two days.
To avoid overcrowding, Wednesday Night is for club members only and Thursday Night is for both Club and local CAMRA members.
Larkins Brewery is based in Chiddingstone near Edenbridge in Kent and produces award winning traditional Kentish real ales. Founded in 1986 by Bob Dockerty a commercial hop grower and a keen home brewer at the time.
The product range comprises three standard and two seasonal beers, made using only hops grown on Larkins Farm. Larkins deliver to around 40-50 local pubs and restaurants, as well as supplying private customers for parties, weddings and local events.
We will have the following beers available:
BEST BITTER: ABV 4.4%
This Kentish style Best Bitter is a rich, fruity and slightly sweet ale. Notes of summer fruits and caramel give way to a long bitter malt finish.
TRADITIONAL: ABV 3.4%
Our staple bitter and best seller. This smooth Kentish style tawny session bitter provides a pleasing balance of Larkins hops, malt and with a surprisingly plentiful character for a beer of such low ABV. An entirely sensible drink and a staple of the house beer pump in all the best local houses.
LARKINS PALE: ABV 4.2%
A full flavoured Kentish-style pale ale, packed with hops grown on Larkins Farm and with not a hint of grapefruit! This thirst quenching addition to the Larkins range is the colour of malt whisky, and is available year round.
PORTER: ABV 5.2%
The local beer with an international reputation! This rich, satisfying porter has won many an award and has the honour of being included in Roger Protz’s acclaimed guide, ‘300 Beers to Try Before You Die’. The drink itself has an intense aroma of roasted grain, pungent hop resins and bitter chocolate. Dark dried and vinous fruits coat the palate, balanced by roasted malt and peppery hops. The finish is long, dry, bitter and satisfying. A beer to be taken most seriously!
GREEN HOP BEST: ABV 4.0%
This seasonal delicacy is only available for a couple of short weeks in October. Made from hops that are brewed on the day they are picked and therefore not dried – the fresh hops add unique qualities to the beer. A surprising and slightly astringent drink. Despite only having been produced since 2013, Green Hop Best is already carving out a reputation for itself with a coveted ‘Champion Beer of the Festival’ award at the 2014 West Kent CAMRA festival.
