aPopLexy & John Davison

Friday October 22 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

On Friday 22nd Oct at OLC a Special Showcase Extra Night with an emphasis on Poetry Set to Music. Some of our regulars performers will be teaming up in combinations that may not be so familiar & there’s also Open Mic opportunities for floorspots.

The full lineup & schedule are still to be confirmed but here is what’s pencilled in.

For the finale, a welcome return to the club for aPopLexy who will both back poet extraordinaire John Davison with his wry observations on ‘that was the week that was’ as well as playing a set of their own material.

APopLexy is likely to be performing as a duo with Lexy (keyboards/ vocals) & David Fowler (guitar /sax). Their original sound is built around Lexy’s well-crafted songwriting influenced by synth-rock, & jazz with gothic tinges. Sadly Roger Hollingshead (percussion) has been suffering from more acute mobility problems recently & is unlikely to make it but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Colourful poet & authoress Geraldine Anne Ford has recently been enlisting cuddly guitarist & singer Curtis Savage to help set some of her compositions to music & the evening will give them an added opportunity to showcase the results.

OLC (Once a Catholic) is a new all-girl trio blending the combined singing, playing & poetry/songwriting talents of popular local performers Allison Morey, Carol Fenwick & Helen Christopher.

There will be ‘Jeux sans frontières’ floorspot opportunities during the 1st half of the show …
Anyone is welcome to have a go & there are no limits, within reason, to what you can do.. tunes, songs, poetry, stories, comedy etc.., but please be civil, entertaining & mindful of any other performers who are hoping there will be enough time left for them after you’ve finished. Thank You

The event will be Free Entry to OLC Members with a £1 charge to the club for Non-members. A hat collection for the musicians in cash with a suggested minimum contribution of £5. The CAMRA award-winning bar is card payments only & open on the night 17.30- 22.30 hrs.
