Anne Sumner & Grahame Hood
Tuesday June 15 @ 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm
It’s another fun-packed early Tuesday evening of folk & acoustic music under the OLC Garden Gazebo.
Showcase sets from 2 great performers Anne Sumner + Grahame Hood & we also try to squeeze in as many floor spots as possible in the remaining time…so hang on to your seats for the ride.
We love Surrey-based Anne Sumner, who will be playing the finale. She turns our heads with her finely crafted songs, poetic lyrics, willowy guitar patterns & powerful expressive voice. No wonder Anne is a favourite on the local music scene & her gigs are always something very special.
Grahame Hood will perform the mid-evening set. A multi-instrumentalist who can turn his hand to guitar, Appalachian Dulcimer, Mandolin & Balalaika all to good effect. A Scot by birth, he’s a big fan of both Americana + The British Folk-Rock scene & a world-renowned authority on Clive Palmer & the Incredible String Band. Grahame involves himself in numerous projects with other musicians, including Walking the Witch & Nights of the Living Dulcimers. He will be helping to host Orpington Folk & Blues, which is returning to OLC on the 2nd & 4th Tues starting 22 June.
But back to the 15th when floor spots start the evening from as soon after 18.30 as possible to 19.30 with more getting shoe-horned in between the 2 featured sets at 20.00 hrs ..we’ll aim to get Anne on as soon after 20.20 as we can.
If you wish to perform, please come early or flag up your intentions in advance to avoid disappointment…we’re open to poets & very short storytellers in addition to singers & musicians ..& of course, an audience.
The bar will be open from 18.15 & we aim to start the music by 19.00 hrs at the very latest
Due to licensing conditions, we have to finish & be clear of the garden by 21.00 hrs at the very latest, but subject to space, you’ll be able to continue drinking inside for a little bit longer if you wish.
It’s free entry for OLC Club members, with Non-Member Guests paying a £1 charge for the use of facilities.
There will be a hat collection in cash for the performers.
The bar service is cards only with the expectation you’ll buy a drink. The prices are very reasonable & there’s always a great selection of well kept CAMRA award-winning Real Ales & Craft Ciders available. The club also sells a range of other drinks, including low & non-alcoholic together with bar snack.
