Just a week to go until our February festival! Nearly half the beers have already arrived. Every supplier has, subject to last minute hiccups, confirmed their beers. There is a wizzy new listing of the beers on the festival page where you can sort the beers by brewer, name, ABV and style (and also by description… though why you would want to do that we are not sure. There is also a listing of the ciders and perries we have planned, most of these are ones that aren’t heard of much, what would be known as “tickers” ciders/perries.
On the beer front we may have an extra special cask of a fined beer interloping with all of the unfined beers…
There will be music in the evenings and hot food.
Don’t forget you MUST buy your tickets in advance, either over the club bar or on the Festival web page.
On the bar now we’ve got:
Exeter Lighterman Despite its low strength, this ale is full of flavour and has character beyond its ABV. Medium golden amber in colour, it has a well balanced flavour enhanced with lots of English Goldings hops. 3.6% £2.40. Devon.
Triple fff Pressed Rat and Warthog Complex mild perhaps not in the traditional sense but Triple fff like their beers hoppy! Ruby coloured, roast malt aroma with hints of blackcurrant and plum leads to a soft yet full roast flavour, fruit and malt vying with the rounded hoppy bittersweet finish. Not only for the mild fanatics but the bitter lovers too. Both will be left satisfied and wanting more. 3.8% £2.40. Hampshire.
Surrey Hills Collusion 3 A fun collusion between the good folk of Cobbett’s Real Ales Dorking and Surrey Hills Brewery. An inordinate, eclectic collection of aromatic & flavoursome hops deftly melded to a solid pale malt backbone. 5.2% £3.00. Dorking. LocAle.
1648 Triple Champion An old fashioned style, Chestnut coloured Bitter – deeply
flavoured, and full bodied, with a malty finish. A traditional style English ale. 4.0%. Sussex
Cider and Perry on the bar:
Duddas Tun Greenhorn 5.5%. Made with Katy apples (nearing end) 5.5% £3.00
Duddas Tun Perry 5.5% £3.00
Cornish Orchards Pear 5.0% (nearing end)
